Fillers for Men
Considered, individualized filler treatment for the male face – jawline, chin, cheeks, temples, and under eyes – designed for structure and definition rather than softness.
Dermal fillers for men are used to restore volume, strengthen structural features, and refresh a tired appearance without altering the fundamental character of a face. At his Manhattan office, Dr. Brian Hibler offers the full range of hyaluronic acid and biostimulatory fillers for male patients, including jawline definition, chin projection, cheek support, and under-eye correction. Product selection and placement are calibrated to the specific goals and anatomy of male patients, which typically favor angularity and structure.
Hyaluronic acid filler is among the most requested non-surgical cosmetic treatment worldwide, and for men the objective is definition and support, never volume or softness. That distinction is where an inexperienced injector does real damage. Filler placed with a female aesthetic in mind – rounder cheeks, fuller lips – softens a male face in exactly the direction most men are trying to move away from. This does not mean that men are not candidates for cheek or lip filler, but the product selection, amount of product, and placement are critical to preserve a natural aesthetic. Dr. Hibler works with each patient to determine which fillers (often used in combination with lasers and energy-based devices) will deliver the most natural, refined result.
The Short Answer
For men, filler reinforces structure – a stronger jawline, a more defined chin, support under tired eyes – rather than adding softness or fullness. Placed conservatively and staged over time, it sharpens masculine angles while looking entirely natural.
Among the most requested areas for men are the jawline and chin, where a small amount of a firmer filler can create a cleaner mandibular angle and a stronger profile. Under-eye hollows are another common request – restoring a small amount of support there is one of the highest-impact ways to look less tired without looking altered. In every case, I use less than most men expect and stage it deliberately: a syringe now, a reassessment, and further product only if it is actually needed.
Midface (cheek) filler for men and women differs primarily in target placement and contour goals. Women generally require superior/lateral volume to create high, lifted, and tapered heart-shaped cheekbones, whereas men need lower, flatter, and more inferior/medial placement to maintain a broader, angular, and rugged facial frame.
Beyond its immediate shaping effect, hyaluronic acid filler also stimulates a modest amount of your own collagen over time, which is part of why conservative, well-placed filler ages gracefully rather than requiring aggressive upkeep. Injectable biostimulatory fillers, such as Sculptra, are used very conservatively to avoid an ‘inflated’ appearance, best for slender individuals with a narrow face.
An overfilled face is difficult to undo gracefully; a measured plan is easy to build on. I would rather place slightly too little and add at a follow-up than overcorrect on a first visit. This is also where an experienced, credentialed evaluator earns their keep – recognizing how much a given cheek, jaw, or chin can structurally support before it starts to look exaggerated is judgment, not a formula, and it comes from having assessed a wide range of male facial proportions rather than applying one template to every patient. Combining injectable fillers with tissue tightening treatments and laser treatments to improve skin quality helps reduce the amount of actual volume we are using – meaning a more natural appearance.
A filler visit for structural work typically takes 30 minutes, most of it discussion and planning before any product is placed. A combination of injection with needle and cannula (a long, flat tube) are used for patient comfort and precise placement. Mild swelling or bruising at injection points is common for a few days; the final result settles within one to two weeks. Because the goal is angular support rather than added volume, most men need only periodic touch-ups – not a full redo – as the product gradually metabolizes.
This is best suited to men who want more definition or balance without changing who they look like in the mirror. Men with loss of volume in the midface, hollows under the eyes, or poor chin/jawline definition are ideal candidates for injectable filler treatment. It is not the right approach for men seeking dramatic volume, tissue tightening, or to address dynamic wrinkles on the forehead or between the brows. We will review your goals against your underlying bone structure before recommending volume, since filler works with your existing anatomy rather than overriding it – and I will tell you honestly when a concern is better addressed with other techniques or surgically.
Men with excessive submental fullness (double chin) or significant skin laxity may not be good candidates for jawline filler. They might benefit more from treatments for double chin or tissue tightening treatments or else they may not see as much of a result with injectable filler. This is why the consultation is important, and the treatments can be staged or timed in a manner to get the best result.

Will filler make my face look puffy?
Not when placed with a male goal in mind. The objective is angular definition, not softness – meaning small volumes in specific structural areas, staged over time rather than delivered all at once.
How long does structural filler last for men?
Firmer products placed for jawline or chin support commonly last well over a year, sometimes closer to two, because they sit deep and are not subject to the same movement as lip or cheek filler. Actual duration varies by product and individual metabolism.
Is the result reversible if I do not like it?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme injection if the result is not what you wanted, which is one reason it remains a lower-risk starting point than surgical alternatives.
Why does the injector’s judgment matter more than the product itself?
The filler is only as good as the plan behind it. Ensuring the patient is a good candidate and discussing combination treatments for the most natural result is an important part of the consultation. Injection technique is not only for patient safety, but to achieve optimal outcomes that require tailoring each treatment to every individual’s unique anatomy and goals.
