Botox for Men
Precise neuromodulator treatment for men in New York City: softening forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet without erasing expression.
Botox for men is one of the most requested treatments at Dr. Brian Hibler’s Manhattan practice. Also referred to as “Brotox”, male neuromodulator treatment softens the horizontal forehead lines, frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet that can make a face read as tired or tense before it reads as confident. Dr. Hibler uses Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, Xeomin, Daxxify and dosing for male patients is calibrated to preserve the stronger, more angular expression that most men prefer, rather than to erase it.
Male facial anatomy is meaningfully different. Men typically have denser, more developed muscles of expression, a lower and flatter brow position, and a different pattern of wrinkling than female patients. Effective treatment requires higher units, precise placement, and a considered approach to preserve the natural brow shape. Dr. Hibler’s approach for male patients emphasizes subtle, undetectable results appropriate for professionals in New York’s most visible industries.
Botox remains the most-performed injectable aesthetic treatment in the world, and among men the request is almost always the same: look less worn down, without looking like anything was done.
The Short Answer
Men typically need more neuromodulator than women because male facial muscles are larger and stronger. The goal is a rested, less stern expression with the brow kept flat and strong: relaxed and refreshed, but never frozen or with arched brows.
The male frontalis, corrugator, and procerus muscles – the ones responsible for forehead lines and the vertical “elevens” between the brows – carry more mass and more pulling force than their female counterparts. Undertreat them and the visit accomplishes little; overtreat them and the forehead goes unnaturally smooth, which is its own kind of giveaway. Getting the dose right, muscle by muscle, is the actual skill being paid for.
Brow position is where the sexes diverge most. Women frequently want a subtle lift and arch; men generally should not have one. An arched, lifted brow is among the fastest ways to feminize a male face. Dosing for men is calibrated to keep the brow flat, low, and structurally strong while still softening the lines around it. Men also have larger foreheads, and at times, a receding hairline – unnatural wrinkling along the anterior hairline is a telltale sign of Botox treatment and can be readily avoided.
This is precisely the judgment an experienced evaluator brings: knowing which muscles to soften, which to leave alone, and how many units a given man’s anatomy actually needs – decisions that come from treating enough male anatomy to recognize the range, distinct from a standard female dosing approach.
- Forehead lines that read as tired or worried
- The vertical ‘elevens’ between the brows that read as stern or angry
- Crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes
- Neck bands, poor jawline definition, and downturned mouth corners in select cases (Nefertiti lift)
- Teeth clenching or TMJ discomfort (masseter treatment)
- Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) underarms
Results appear over 3 to 10 days and generally hold for 3 to 4 months. Most men start with the forehead or frown lines, confirm the result looks natural on their own face, and expand from there rather than committing to everything at once. Consistent treatment over time can gradually soften how strongly the muscles pull even between sessions. And routine treatments can slow the progression or prevent deep, etched in lines at rest.
A treatment visit takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The muscles are evaluated while you frown, squint, and raise your brows, then are strategically injected with a fine needle. There is essentially no downtime, though staying upright and skipping the gym for a few hours afterward is sensible. Bruising is uncommon, but possible.
Because male muscle mass and strength vary more than people expect, the first visit is partly a calibration exercise; some men return for a small two-week touch-up while we find the right dose, and settle into a predictable rhythm every 3 to 4 months after that. Equally as important as dosing is the precise placement, which is critical for a natural aesthetic.
This suits men who want to look less tired or stern without looking “done”; dosing is deliberately calibrated to preserve a strong, mobile brow rather than lift or soften it. It is honestly not the right tool for deep static wrinkles that persist at rest without movement, or for skin laxity; those respond better to filler, resurfacing, or a skin-tightening approach, and I will say so plainly if that is really what is bothering you rather than treat the wrong problem.

Will Botox make my forehead look frozen?
No, when dosed correctly for male anatomy. The goal is to soften the strongest lines while preserving natural movement and a strong brow. Dosing starts conservative by design, and more can always be added at a two-week touch-up if needed.
How much more does a man need than a woman?
Men may require significantly more units per area, because male muscles carry more mass and pulling force. A conservative treatment may be performed the first time to assess an individual response to treatment. Underdosing, however, will result in a treatment that does not last as long.
Will Botox make my eyebrows arch or lift?
Not with male-calibrated dosing. An arched, lifted brow reads as a feminizing change, so injections are placed and dosed to keep the brow flat and strong while still softening forehead lines and the ‘elevens.’
Does it hurt, and is there any downtime?
Discomfort is minimal (a brief pinch per injection point), and no anesthetic is needed. There is no downtime; you return to normal activity immediately, though strenuous exercise and lying flat are best avoided for a few hours.
Why does the injector’s experience with male faces matter?
Male dosing, muscle selection, and brow position require different judgment than standard female protocols. Treatment dosing must be calibrated to your anatomy rather than applied by formula to achieve a natural result.
